About

Behind KodeNet, there's Jack.

Jack Emery: self-taught, hooked on computers since I was a kid. I design, code, launch and monitor every KodeNet website, from Pleugueneuc, between Rennes, Saint-Malo and Dinan in Brittany.

01 — Code

Self-taught, and never stopped.

It all started with curiosity: wanting to understand how a program works, what goes on behind the screen. I taught myself, and I've never stopped since.

For years I worked on video game projects: C++ for what runs at the heart of the game, C# for the interfaces, and reverse engineering on PowerPC, the processor inside the consoles of the time.

Understanding a program without its source code, one instruction at a time, is the best school of patience and rigour I know. I use it every day.

02 — Competition

Pro esports player.

At the same time, I competed at the highest level in esports: a professional player for Infused Gaming, a big British organisation, and European champion with Infernal Gamerz.

  1. 2017

    Winner of the Gamers Assembly

In Poitiers, on Xbox, with Infernal Gamerz: the trophy, and €7,500 in prize money.

  2. 2018

    Top 8 at DreamHack Valencia

On PC, against the biggest teams in the world: out of the group stage and onto the main stage.

Competition taught me what I bring to every website: prepare, test, leave nothing to chance, and stay calm on the day everything has to work.

03 — Tournaments

The other side: running them.

With BDS eSports, I was an administrator of the Take The Throne project, and I built its tools: the website that ran the tournaments, a Discord bot for the community and anti-cheat software.

Players counting on the website on match night, results that have to be fair: that's where I learned what it means to build a tool people depend on.

04 — Today

All that passion, for your website.

Today I put it to work for shops, independents and small businesses. Every KodeNet website is designed and coded from scratch, hosted in France on a dedicated server, backed up every night and checked every 5 minutes.

No middleman: you talk directly to the person who writes your website's code. I'm based in Pleugueneuc, between Rennes, Saint-Malo and Dinan in Brittany; I come to see you, or we talk by video call, in English or French.
